Description
On April 1, 1974, the Thalwitz family opened the first Bavarian Chef restaurant on Route 29 in Madison, Virginia. In May 2010, Jerome and Christine Thalwitz opened a second location in the historic train station in downtown Fredericksburg. Generous portions, family-style side dishes and mouth-watering desserts are the hallmark of a hearty meal at the Bavarian Chef. Known throughout the United States, and even internationally, for its hearty fare and gem_tlichkeit, or cheery conviviality, The Bavarian Chef has garnered acclaim from magazines such as Bon Appetit, and continues to be featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Virginian-Pilot as a top-rated German restaurant.
