The holidays cannot be contained to just one month here in the Fredericksburg region! We have so much cheer we start in November. While decorating a tree and singing carols before Thanksgiving may seem a bit strange, it’s done with a light heart and makes for a much more relaxed schedule. So break out the peppermint mochas and Google Calendar, and get ready for some serious merriment!

Our holiday market will include vendors selling traditional crafts and foods. It is the perfect environment to invoke the holiday spirit while friends, families and neighbors stroll along tents filled with gifts and treats. Spices from mulled wine, roasted almonds waft through the air, and live music and carolers wander about while shoppers fill their mugs with hot chocolate and German beer. Santa Train

Santa Train Ticket Sales Day - Nov 19, 9am - Another Fredericksburg tradition. Sometimes getting the Santa Train tickets are half the adventure. They usually sell out within minutes! You can order online ( we suggest refreshing your screen often ) or in person. If you go in person dress warmly and bring a hot coffee. Be warned, the line tends to break out in festive Christmas Carols!

Santa Train - Dec 9, multiple departure times- Every year just before Christmas, kids and their parents are given the opportunity to ride a VRE train to meet Santa and friends, who are on board to promote rail safety and Operation Lifesaver’s “Look, Listen and Live” campaign. There will be plenty of Santa’s helpers handing out candy canes and coloring books, along with other festivity-makers. We use this event as an opportunity to remind people of the importance of rail safety. So remember, that this event is not just for fun, but it also has an important message: "Look, listen and live!" Visit Operation Lifesaver for more on rail safety.
