Railroad Museum and Rail Excursion

NOTE: Train operations in winter are restricted to mild, dry days.
Every Saturday morning from 9am-12pm the Rappahannock Chapter, National Railway Historical Society opens its Railroad and Railway workers museum to visitors. See the tools and equipment used by railway workers of the past century. Tour restored Railway Express Baggage car, restored cabooses, and the grounds containing various signalling and Maintenance of Way equipment. Members are on hand to provide detailed explanations of railroad equpment. operations and safety. Weather and other conditions permittting board the restored crew cars used by the workers in the early to mid twentieth century and take a liesurely excursion on Spotsylvania County tracks along Deep Run. Limited rides available November through mid-March due to weather. Train operates only in dry weather when temperatures are above 50 degrees Admission is free. Voluntary donations to support operations and restoration work are accepted. The Chapter and Museum are IRS 501c(3) and contributions are ddeductable as allowed by law.
